Tethering Regulation in Wichita Falls, Texas

Cats will not be tethered exterior. Canine will not be tethered until an individual is holding the tether or the canine’s proprietor or handler is exterior and inside 50 ft of the canine through the time that the animal is tethered.

Sec. 14-381. – Meals, water, shelter and shade.
(2) Chaining and Tethering Animals:
(a) It shall be illegal to maintain an animal or livestock on a sequence or rope positioned in a fashion that makes it potential to change into entangled with the restraints of different animals or livestock or with some other objects.
(b) It shall be illegal to maintain any animal or livestock on a sequence or rope that’s of inadequate size to permit the animal or livestock full entry to shelter always, besides whereas the proprietor or handler is exterior, inside 50 ft of the animal or is holding the chain or rope.
(c) It shall be illegal to connect a sequence to an animal or livestock in a fashion in order to trigger damage or discomfort to the animal or livestock.
(d) It shall be illegal to stake a cat exterior on a leash, rope, chain or comparable equipment.
(e) It shall be illegal to restrain a canine exterior with a sequence or tether until:
(1) an individual is holding the chain or tether, or
(2) the canine’s proprietor or handler stays exterior, inside 50 ft of the canine, all through the interval of restraint.
2. Violations of this ordinance shall be punishable by a penalty of as much as $500 per violation and as offered by Part 1-14 of the Wichita Falls Code of Ordinances.
3. The sections of this ordinance that specify they amend or add to the Code of
Ordinances of the Metropolis of Wichita Falls are meant to be components of stated Code, and stated sections of this ordinance could also be renumbered or relettered to perform such intention.
4.
