A really blustery week with rain and powerful northwesterly
winds on the twenty first and twenty second. Even stronger winds got here from the west for the following
two days earlier than calming barely and remaining dry for the tip of the week.
A max depend of 14 Mallard on the twenty third contains the 9
birds incessantly seen at Rocket Pole Pond in addition to 5 at Pondsbury. 5
Teal have been on Pondsbury on the twenty third and 4 on the twenty fifth. Two Woodpigeon have been
recorded in Millcombe on the twenty second to the twenty fifth however went down to 1 on the twenty sixth.
A single Snipe was seen on the twenty third and a single Oystercatcher stays within the
Touchdown Bay.

Gulls have been counted on the twenty fourth and 14 on the twenty sixth. The best depend of Herring
Gulls was 32 on the twenty seventh and 9 Lesser Black-backed Gulls have been seen on the
twenty fourth and twenty sixth. A Kittiwake was seen flying over Quarter Wall on the twenty sixth. Three
Nice Northern Diver have been seen collectively within the Touchdown Bay on the twenty fourth and twenty fifth
with just one seen on the twenty sixth and two on the twenty seventh.

A Sparrowhawk and Kestrel stay across the south of the
island. The Merlin was seen once more this week and on the twenty seventh hunted a Skylark
over Millcombe Valley. The Jackdaw remains to be current, now into its sixth week on
the island.
Two Chiffchaff have been recorded on the twenty fifth, one on the twenty sixth
and three on the seventeenth. These birds could also be new arrivals or may have been on
the island for a while however troublesome to find within the sturdy winds. Two
Goldcrest have been heard on the twenty third with a single chook the remainder of the week.
Notable Starling passage was recorded on the twenty sixth with a depend of 600. Solely a
single Fieldfare was recorded on the twenty third and twenty fifth. A single Redwing was
recorded on the twenty first, twenty second,twenty third and twenty fifth.
Two Black Redstart have been reported on the twenty fourth and one on the
twenty third. A single White Wagtail arrived in a single day on the twenty sixth. The variety of Meadow
Pipit remained in single figures many of the week, and peaked at 17 on the
twenty second. There was a shock document of an American Buff-bellied Pipit flushed up
from Pointless Wall on the twenty fifth. If accepted by the British Birds Rarities Committee
this could be the primary document for the island after the possible contender in November
2021 was declared not confirmed.
Chaffinch numbers solely peaked at 35 on the twenty seventh. A small
flock of 4 Goldfinches was seen by the Paradise Row chook feeders on the twenty seventh after
a pair and a single chook have been seen on the twenty second.
In non-avian information, a Harbour Porpoise was seen off Rat
Island throughout a seawatch.
